Media Library (Images)

Adding Images & Other Media

Adding images and other media files such as videos, documents or PDFs is extremely easy within WordPress. All your images and files are stored in the Media Library. Once they’re uploaded into the Media Library, it’s a very simple matter to insert them into your Page or Post content. In the case of files such as Word Documents or PDFs, if necessary, it’s a simple process to create links to those files so that people can then download them.

Additionally, you can upload files from the page you’re currently working on. If you’ve loaded the Page Builder and are using a module that allows for images then you will see an option to Select Image. From the Select Image popup you can choose an existing image from the Media Library or Upload New. If you incur a HTTPS Upload Error this could be due to the image size or the optimization of your site. If this issue occurs, we recommend uploading the image from the Media Library directly to resolve the issue. If the error still continues please contact your website administrator for further assistance.

Image Size Recommendations

There are no specific size or ratios required when uploading images, but the below will help you in making sure the image are uploaded at a web safe size.

Image File Size & Compression

To ensure your site stays optimized it’s important that you do not upload overly large files, otherwise this will cause your site bandwidth usage to increase and pages to load slower.

If your images are loading slowly and are causing slow load times for your site, please use this online tool to compress your images before uploading. Image files should NOT be larger than 2MB in size. If you’ve already uploaded an image file that you believe to be too large then we recommend compressing the original file using the above tool, then uploading and replacing your compressed file with the file currently in use on your site. Once you’ve swapped the image out then delete the old and too large file from your media library.

If your images appear pixelated in general this could be due to the upload size or resolution, in this case the image may be too small for use on the website and we recommend choosing a higher quality image.

If you need to pre-crop an image to a specific format/ratio before uploading  use this online tool to crop your images.
